AEO status and what it means for your shipment

Customs & Documentation
3 min read Updated August 2026

AEO (Authorised Economic Operator) is an internationally recognised certification granted to supply chain operators who meet strict customs compliance, security, and financial solvency standards. ZargoLogix holds AEO certification, and our customs brokers operate under AEO status in 38 countries.

What it means in practice

  • Fewer physical and documentary inspections — AEO-certified shipments are statistically less likely to be selected for routine customs checks.
  • Priority treatment when a shipment is selected for inspection — AEO cargo is typically processed faster than non-AEO cargo.
  • Mutual recognition — many countries recognise each other's AEO programmes, extending these benefits across multiple trade lanes rather than just one country.

You don't need to do anything to benefit from this — AEO status applies automatically to shipments handled under ZargoLogix's customs brokerage service. It's one of the reasons our first-pass clearance rate is as high as it is.

AEO is one of 13 international certifications ZargoLogix holds. See the full list on our Certifications page.
